As 2013 dawns, it’s time for some New Year’s resolutions. For many of the nearly 2 million Californians still out of work, finding a new job is resolution number one. There are jobs available, just not enough qualified workers.

Many Californians are going back to school, to learn a new skill to position themselves for one of the  hundreds of thousands of jobs available now.

Now more than ever, community colleges, like Long Beach City College are making it a priority to align their programs with the demands of industries in their region. Long Beach is home to one of the world’s great ports, and the school aligns many of its training classes to the needs of the port.
