California Stewardship Network logo
The California Stewardship Network (CSN) is an alliance of regional civic leaders committed to developing innovative solutions to the state’s most pressing economic, environmental, and social challenges. These solutions require breakthrough innovation driven by civic entrepreneurs—diverse regional teams composed of both established and emerging leaders.

CSN was founded in 2008 by the Morgan Family Foundation as a civic venture. In 2019, CSN joined CA FWD, who is a member of and backbone for the CSN.

With a passion for supporting education, environmental conservation, and regional prosperity, Becky Morgan, a former California State Senator, and Jim Morgan, a former legislator and corporate CEO/chairman, founded the CSN in 2008 through their Morgan Family Foundation. In 2019, CSN joined CA FWD, a member of and backbone for the CSN. With member organizations representing nearly each of the state’s regions, the CSN represents the diversity of resources, landscapes, economic challenges, and opportunities unique across California.

Along with CA FWD, the CSN works to develop and implement projects that address specific regional challenges, collaborates on research and data analysis to support regional initiatives, co-hosts events and workshops to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and build capacity among regional leaders, and more. From inland to coastal, rural to urban, the is CSN building a regions-up economy that is sustainable, resilient, and inclusive.

BECKY MORGAN STEWARD LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

To ensure stewards continue to be identified and trained to lead in each region, CSN leaders serve as mentors to emerging stewards through its Becky Morgan Steward Leadership Program.

Jim and Becky Morgan

“What keeps me going is the expressions of enthusiasm from stewards in the regions caring for their place. No one else is doing it in this way.”

– Becky Morgan
