From the Sacramento Bee:
The California State Association of Counties released a letter this afternoon expressing support for Gov. Jerry Brown’s plan to move state services to the counties, but cautioning that funding issues must be resolved.
As part of his proposed budget, Brown has proposed moving a broad range of programs to the counties, including parole, incarceration of lower-level offenders, and juvenile justice. County officials across the state have said they think local government can do a better job than the state – with adequate funding.
“We recognize both the significant opportunities and risks associated with the realignment proposal,” said CSAC Executive Director Paul McIntosh.
