PolicyWise bids farewell to co-host and co-founder Michael Wiafe, who leaves the podcast after two years to join the Inland Empire Community Foundation as a Government and Community Relations Fellow.

In the latest episode (S3, E17), Wiafe is joined by PolicyWise co-hosts Demetria Wack, Ellinor Arzbaecher and Mehek Kandru to discuss “Michael moments,” advice he would give to the next generation of youth leaders and the origin of PolicyWise.

Wiafe and Wack reconnected on a CA FWD Young Leaders Advisory Council virtual meeting in 2020. They began talking about issues and came up with the idea of the podcast. With the support of CA FWD and the Youth Leadership Institute, PolicyWise was born.

“Starting PolicyWise, at least in my mind, was at least a way to start the conversation for getting young people involved in decisions that policymakers were making,” said Wiafe.

Wiafe also last year joined the CA FWD Action Fund, the advocacy arm of CA FWD, as a board member, adding his voice to  activities that promote policies to improve the quality of life of all Californians.

The PolicyWise podcast is a partnership between Youth Leadership Institute and CA FWD and can be heard on Spotify, Apple PodcastsStitcherBreaker AudioRadioPublicPocket Casts and Overcast.
