Former CA Fwd leadership council member Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins has been honored with the New Leaders Council (NLC)’s 40 Under 40 Leadership Award.
The award recognizes a diverse group of young leaders and “celebrates success in entrepreneurship, advocacy, media and politics.” The NLC, formed in 2005, works to train and support the next generation of leaders with the goal if ensuring a robust civic, business, and political landscape.
As CEO of Green for All, Ellis-Lamkins has won several groundbreaking policy victories, including securing two key provisions in the House climate and energy bill: funding for job training, guaranteed broad access to clean-energy jobs.
Also this year, Ellis-Lamkins was named one of The Grio’s 100 History Makers In The Making. In addition, Black Enterprise Magazine honored her as one of their 40 Next: Emerging Leaders for Our Future in2010. And in 2009, Essence named Phaedra one of the 25 Most Influential African-Americans.
In addition to CA Fwd, Ellis-Lamkins has also served as Chair of the Department of Labor’s Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship; as well as on the boards of the Economic Policy Institute and the Tipping Point Community; and as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.
The NLC will honor Ellis-Lamkins at an event in July.
