There are 112 community colleges in 72 districts in the California Community College System. It is the largest system of higher education in the world, serving more than two million students.
Now more than ever, community colleges are playing a vital role in the state’s economic recovery by better preparing the workforce for jobs available now.
California Forward had an opportunity to sit down with the new California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice Harris. He took office on November 6, 2012, as the 15th chancellor for the system.
With just three months under his belt, the Chancellor explains why he believes community colleges will continue playing a vital role in the varied regions of California.
