Krystal Mae Raynes is a Filipina first-generation college student. She is majoring in Computer Science and Business at California State University, Bakersfield. She has held multiple campus leadership positions from 2018 to 2020, including Interim Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Vice President of University Affairs, and Director of Legislative Affairs for Associated Students Inc. She served as Social Justice and Equity Officer with the California State Student Association from 2019 to 2020. Raynes also served as an intern at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities for the United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service, in 2019 where she worked closely with food insecurity experts.
Raynes is determines to use her challenges to create opportunities for others. She is motivated to create change through sustainable policy solutions because of her own struggles with mental health, homelessness and food insecurity.
Currently Raynes serves as the California State University’s 2020-2022 Student Trustee. On campus, Raynes works as a Supplemental Instructor for the CSUB Computer Science department. After she graduates, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in public policy as a Capitol Fellow at Sacramento State. She hopes to work in Sacramento or DC as a policy analyst.”
