There are 112 community colleges in 72 districts in the California Community College System. It is the largest system of higher education in the world, serving more than two million students. Like the UC and CSU systems, CCCS has had its fair share of budget woes the past four years. Enrollment has dropped, programs have been cut and teachers and staff members have left the system.
California Forward had the opportunity to sit down with California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice Harris. He took office on November 6, 2012, as the 15th chancellor for the system. With just three months under his belt, the Chancellor explains why he believes better days are on the horizon.
