The recent 2021 California Economic Summit marked a return to in-person events, with regional leaders and stewards meeting safely in Monterey for two days of discussions, panels and working group sessions to help move the needle on some of California’s most pressing issues.
On Day One, Governor Newsom joined the Summit and commended Summit attendees on their commitment to their communities and their approach to a bottom-up framework for making change regionally.
CA FWD Leadership Council members John Chiang, Ashley Swearengin and CA FWD Co-Founder Leon Panetta also led a session where they discussed what is in store for CA FWD.
Throughout the two-day Summit, work groups met to build their action plans for 2022. Some topics the work groups are focusing on in the coming year include broadband for all, sustainable energy, and homeownership and wealth creation. Look for the 2022 Roadmap to Shared Prosperity containing the full list of priorities to be announced after the new year.
Also announced at the Summit were the location and dates of next year’s Summit, which will take place in Bakersfield on October 27 and 28, 2022.
