Fred Keeley: Taking reform debate to the people

150 150 John Guenther

As the legislature works to reach agreement on a budget and organizations across the state push for reforms designed to make government work more effectively, California Forward is taking the discussion to the people in a major way.

From June 24-26, for the first time in California, hundreds of residents will be brought together in one place for a deliberative poll. 300 randomly selected Californians will discuss and debate the issues of: state-local reform, taxation and fiscal policy, initiative process, and representation.

California Forward Leadership Council member and former Speaker pro Tempore Fred Keeley recently spoke with Central Coast NPR station KUSP about this major endeavor and what we hope to gain from it.
