The 2020 California Economic Summit will be held in Monterey on December 3-4 at the Monterey Conference Center. The announcement was made today by California Forward (CA Fwd) and the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership (MBEP) at the conclusion of the 2019 Summit in Fresno. The two-day event was the largest to-date, attracting more than 800 California leaders dedicated to improving the triple bottom line in every region of the state.
“We are very excited that Monterey has been chosen to host the 2020 Summit,” said MBEP board member and Monterey County Chief Administrative Officer, Charles McKee. “We are looking forward to this ninth annual gathering of private, public and civic leaders from across California’s diverse regions.”
“Sharing the good work that is happening here and our region’s natural beauty is only part of the excitement,” said Eduardo Ochoa, CSU Monterey Bay President and MBEP board chair. “Our region is honored to host this gathering, and along with Governor Newsom, to champion action plans that are working towards all Californians thriving.”
“We are pleased that the California Economic Summit is coming to Monterey in 2020,” said Micah Weinberg, CEO of CA Fwd. “It will give private, public and civic leaders from across California an opportunity to learn more about the region’s unique economy.”
The Summit has emerged as California’s only statewide venue for capturing the best ideas from every region and building a comprehensive plan focusing on four initiatives to better align state and local government, urban and inland economies, and resources from the public and private sectors.
The 2020 Summit will focus on tracking the state’s progress on clear and consistent signals to policy makers, influence on community, regional and state decisions and benchmarking the status of key indicators and primary drivers.
