One of the ways newspapers learn more about major issues and complex subjects – in an effort to better serve readers – is by engaging in an in-depth informal conversation with people who are working hard on that subject or issue. This is the editorial board.
On Wednesday, California Forward took part in a critical editorial board session with the San Francisco Chronicle to talk about our Smart Government Framework.
At the meeting from California Forward were: Leadership Council member Fred Keeley, Policy Director Richard Raya, and Chris Block, CEO of the American Leadership Forum Silicon Valley. From the San Francisco Chronicle were: editorial page editor John Diaz, deputy editorial page editor Lois Kazakoff, political blogger Joe Garofoli, and page one news editor Jay Johnson.
This was an opportunity for the editorial board to ask in depth questions and hear thorough responses about the framework and CA Fwd’s plans. The Chronicle editors will take the information from this discussion and use it in their continuing coverage of these important issues.
John Diaz told CA Fwd this process is important, because it is critical to be able to connect to an issue and present it in a way that is meaningful to readers.
We will continue to keep you up to date on coverage by the Chronicle and other news outlets on issues dealing with reform of California’s governance system. In the meantime, be sure to follow coverage in the Chronicle and check CA Fwd’s news clips page.
