Aaron Schreiber-Stainthorp
Director of Carbon Management

Aaron Schreiber-Stainthorp is CA FWD’s Director of Carbon Management, bringing over 15 years of experience building the tools, coalitions, and strategies that help companies and industries measure, reduce, and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions. At CA FWD, he leads the organization’s carbon management work — connecting climate policy with practical implementation to accelerate California’s transition to a climate-smart economy.

Before joining CA FWD, Aaron spent nine years at Jackson Family Wines, ultimately serving as Sustainability Director, where he built and led the company’s Science-Based Decarbonization Pathway, coordinated sustainability strategy across more than 45 internal and external stakeholders, and established the company as a recognized leader in California’s corporate climate landscape. He oversaw GHG accounting and climate disclosure for the 9th largest U.S. wine producer, developed soil carbon sequestration programs across more than 10,000 acres of vineyard land, and managed a renewable energy portfolio that delivered $26 million in cumulative cost savings. He also served in board roles with the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA) and the International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), helping to shape industry-wide standards and climate commitments across California’s wine sector.

Aaron went on to found Sustainability Squared, a consulting practice focused on GHG accounting, decarbonization strategy, and climate disclosure for companies across wine, agriculture, and food and beverage. In addition to client support, he developed the CSWA DIY Energy Audit Tool, now deployed industry-wide across California to standardize efficiency assessments and enable rapid ROI analysis. He hosts the Carbon Accounting & Management Podcast, a platform for advancing public understanding of corporate climate action.

Aaron is an EDF Climate Corps alumnus and holds an M.S. in Sustainability Management from American University’s Kogod School of Business. He is based in Sonoma County.
