Jim Heerwagen
Chair, Voter's Right to Know

Jim Heerwagen has been active in national and state projects aimed at improving the transparency of political money and limiting special interest influence on government action, including initiating the effort that created the Voters’ Right to Know Act in California.

He also advises growing non-profit organizations and companies and serves on the Board of Trustees of the HealthTrust of Silicon Valley, Board of Directors of MapLight, and the Board of Visitors of the Duke University School of Engineering.

Jim was CEO of two venture-backed tech companies and as COO of a public company in the security software space. He also worked for several years as a technology investor and business adviser.

Jim served as an officer in the United States Navy from 1980-1984. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Duke and an MBA from Harvard. He lives with his wife Hilary in Los Gatos and has three sons in college.
