Andres Murillo

Andres Murillo earned his Master of Business Administration from San Jose State University, building on a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the same alma mater. During his MBA, he served as President of the Graduate Business Student Association (GBSA)—representing all graduate business students on campus, setting up legacy programs, leading an executive board, and boosting member engagement by 300%.

In mid-2024, Andres joined Santa Cruz County’s Building and Planning Department as a Process Improvement Intern. He mapped the complete building-permit process, matched over 100 GIS rules to county code for the first time, and created a logic matrix and flowcharts that paved the way for a modern digital permit-tracking system. His work increased transparency for residents and set the stage for a more efficient, user-friendly platform. He supported research into national cannabis regulations, bolstered struggling growers, and helped launch the country’s first pilot program allowing on-site farm consumption.

As an Administrative Analyst in the City of Saratoga’s Finance Department, Andres prepares capital-improvement and general budgets, conducts risk analysis, and works with department directors to align priorities. Outside work, he mentors at-risk youth with LATI Chillout on healthy decision-making, bikes around the Bay Area, and spends time with his family.
