Kate Bosworth is project manager at CA FWD part-time while also working toward earning a master’s degree in Marriage, Couples and Family Counseling at CSU Sacramento. She began working with CA FWD in 2007 and has held various responsibilities including grant writing, research, staffing the Leadership Council, contract management, budgeting, and managing project support staff.  

Prior to working at CA FWD, Kate was a research analyst at the Little Hoover Commission, an independent state oversight agency that makes recommendations to improve the outcomes of public programs. At the Little Hoover Commission, Kate contributed to the 2005 review of Governor Schwarzenegger’s government reorganization plan, and to proposals to improve the state’s emergency preparedness, alcohol and drug treatment programs, water resources and personnel management.

Kate was one of 18 college graduates selected to participate in the California Senate Fellows program, where she served as an associate consultant in the Senate Public Safety Committee from 2003-04. Before moving to Sacramento, Kate worked at the University of San Diego’s Trans-Border Institute, which aims to promote scholarship, studies, research and activities related to Mexico and the United States-Mexico border. As an undergraduate, Kate conducted independent research in Oaxaca, Mexico on the effects of a family member’s migration to the U.S. on women who stay at home. Her research was funded through a grant from the Doris A. Howell Foundation for Women’s Health Research.

Kate holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Sociology with a minor in Spanish from the University of San Diego.
