Californians from the public, private and civic realms who came to Ontario last month to participate in the California Economic Summit’s next steps are saying the process is on the right track. The statewide gathering has been co-presented by California Forward and the California Stewardship Network since 2012.

Watch the video above to see what leaders who attended said about the regions-based, triple-bottom-line-focused work being done by the Summit.

In a post-event survey, 96 percent of respondents agreed that the 2015 Summit was focused on the right set of priorities for supporting sustainable prosperity in California.

Participating at the two-day event were Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, state Treasurer John Chiang, state Controller Betty Yee, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, UC President Janet Napolitano, and CSU Chancellor Timothy White, among others.

Attendees agreed that the Summit’s emphasis on workforce, housing and water challenges that face the California economy is the right idea.

The 2015 Summit focused on a set of goals called the “One Million Challenges” and developed a number of strategies to train one million more middle-skill workers, build one million more homes and save one million more water acre-feet of water.

As the work continues and the action plans are developed, you can check out all of our pre- and post-Summit coverage here.
