The Inland Empire–composed of two counties–Riverside and San Bernardino—is the fastest growing region in the state with 3.3 million people and a $77 billion economy.

Located east of Los Angeles, it’s surrounded by a number of freeways and railways that connect it to other U.S. cities.

The I.E. as it is known, has become a major force in our economy, thanks to its logistics, one feature that makes the region so attractive to companies.

Skechers is building one of the largest warehouses in the region, a 1.5 million-square-foot building that could house 40 football fields.

California Forward’s Cheryl Getuiza explores what is bringing in more of these huge warehouses, and the jobs they bring, to the region.
